Guitars have arrived!!!

The guitars and cases have arrived!  On Tuesday, we will be opening them up for the first time and learning about basic care and maintenance of a stringed instrument.


This week in Guitar Class:
Tuesday:  Help Mrs. Gomez unpack the guitars and then clean up the orchestra room.  Learn the parts of the guitar and their functions.
Wednesday:  Learn the string names and some basic strum patterns, and basic notation vocabulary.
Thursday:  Learn the E minor chord shape and E Major shape, and how to play a chromatic scale from low e to high e.  Review the parts of the guitar for the quiz on Friday.
Friday:  Quiz on the parts of the guitar and identification of string names.  Begin Unit 2.

Essential Vocabulary:
Classical Guitar, Acoustic guitar, electric guitar, EADGBE string names.  Neck, body, fretboard, frets, nut, saddle, bridge, pick-guard, sound hole, tuning pegs, head, tuner, chromatic scale, treble clef, note names, strum symbol.
